Tip 1 - Computer backups. In this technological age, there is no real excuse not to have a regular back system for your valuable data. We can recommend a couple of simple and inexpensive options for data backups.
a. Hard Drive Backup. With large hard disks (eg 200GB now selling less than $200), it is very easy to add an extra drive for backup purposes or fit a removeable drive carrier so that the unit can be removed and stored off site for security. Backup software can be as simple as Second Copy which can do scheduled compressed backups of your data to the backup hard drive or software such as Norton Ghost which takes an image of the hard drive and copies it directly to another drive.
Also, a new program Acronis TrueImage 9.0 has just been released which handles drive imaging within Windows. We use Acronis and recommend it to our clients due to its ease of use and scheduling features.
B. DVD. With burners selling for less than $100 and discs as low as 50 cents, this also present an inexpensive option for backing up data. Burner software usually has inbuilt programs for backing up data files.
